Intelligence in lifestyle #38 Coverstory Illustrations

34 illustrations, 10 portraits, 11 gothic dropcaps, 2 special pages and 1 map + 12 icons. This what we drew for Intelligence in Lifestyle issue number 38. The coverstory is dedicated to Germany and we have illustrated everything appeared in this special column.

THE BLIND BARBER

I love how things are going back to the more simpler times. I think the art of the barber shop is one of those things that has been overlooked. That was until Jonathan showed me this site

They have everything from the cut and shave to the classic cocktails. But honestly I think their statement on the site explains it best.

The Blind Barber is a return to the “Roaring Twenties”. Defined by the explosion of culture and its break from tradition, the “Roaring Twenties” was a movement in creativity. The Blind Barber hopes to revive this very movement while redefining modern manhood. The concept goes well beyond cuts, shaves and cocktails within a barbershop and lounge, but rather expands into all realms of the modern gentleman: Fashion, Music, Lifestyle, Grooming and others.

We hope to create an identity that will cultivate personalities; a brand and place where creatives come to be inspired as well as inspire others.

Simplicity in the interface and visual design of your website will push your work to the surface, where it should be.

Not only a great note on a portfolio site but also for your blog.
It is always best to design so the content is the main focus.

Studio Sweet Studio

Several months ago I stumbled on the original Studio Sweet Studio blog created and currated by Meg Lewis and Tuesday Bassen.  The duo created Studio Sweet Studio to feature the workspace and process of artists, illustrators and designers.  After discovering their blog I reached out to Meg to see if she was interested in creating a theme for Style Hatch, and a few weeks later Juuvy was born.

Last week I was thrilled to get an email from Meg letting us know that they were in the process of moving Studio Sweet Studio over to Tumblr.  They both did a fantastic job customizing and hacking our Atlantic Noir theme.

Go follow Studio Sweet Studio on Tumblr.  You will not regret it.

Juuvy

Digital shop Style Hatch is proud to debut Juuvy, a fashionable chic modular grid with adjustable post sizes!

I was thrilled when Meg Lewis (Ghostly Ferns) agreed to collaborating with us on the design of Juuvy.  She did a fantastic job!  Make sure you check out her site and follow her on Tumblr and Twitter.

Like all of our other premium Tumblr themes, Juuvy comes jam packed with features that allow you to customize virtually everything including the colors, layout, typography, and adding social features.  Check out the Juuvy demo site and Juuvy York for a different dark flavor.  Pick up Juuvy on Tumblr for $49, and as always feel free to email us questions!
